You will find our members and coaches very welcoming and always extremely enthusiastic.

What are you waiting for ... come and join us!

A happy New Year to all WaldenTRI members !

What a great year 2011 was for WaldenTRI. It was the year that :

  • We hit a record high membership of 166 senior members. Add the juniors on to this and we have a grand total of around 280 members ! The Junior section also has a long and ever-increasing waiting list.
  • We successfully organised not one, but two, great events, providing high quality racing for 100's of competitors as well as raising funds for the club and for charity,
  • We had several athletes successfully competing in Great Britain teams at international events. In addition we had George Peasgood selected to train with the GB paratri squad
  • The Junior section continued to go from strength to strength. 2011 saw the first youngsters who were nurtured by Geoff's team joining the senior club, with several of them putting-in fine performances at our own Walden Triathlon.
  • Many of our members hit performance landmarks like completing their first tri, first open water swim, first Ironman, or even first marathon swim ! We had members who accomplished incredible feats of endurance like cycling across America, completing the 3 peaks yacht race (running, cycling, sailing and rowing over 5 days!) and other crazy things like 10 hour bike rides and 50 mile runs !
  • We introduced Run Time Trials to go along with the already established bike T.T.'s.
  • We picked up a sackful of both individual and team trophies at the end of the last cross country season, and at the summer mountain biking endurance event.
  • Three individuals from the club won awards at the annual Uttlesford District Sports Award Ceremony. Derek won the Unsung Hero Award, Clare the Coach of the Year, and Jack Peasgood won the top prize of Sports Personality of the Year.

Great days and great achievements indeed, and I'm sure 2012 will bring many more.

Injured Soldiers Fund

Since 2008, WaldenTRI have been supporting the charity Teenage Cancer Trust.

In 2011, member votes have led us to support the Injured Soldiers Fund instead. Our donation will be calculated from a portion of club proceeds and a portion of race entry fees from WT11. WaldenTRI are very proud and pleased to be able to make a contribution to our local community. Read more
