Five members of WaldenTRI had huge success at Gosfield Lake multisport festival near Braintree this weekend, with podiums across the board.

The annual event is hosted by Born to Tri at Gosfield Lake and includes races of every combination of swimming, cycling and running. WaldenTRI had five members competing, with an incredible success rate of four golds and a silver.Emma Williams came first in the Aquabike event, followed closely by Hollie Mathison. The event started with a 1500m swim around Gosfield Lake, followed by a 40km cycle. Meanwhile, Craig Dyce and Georgina Dunlop were both competing in the Duathlon event, which comprised a 5km run, 20km cycle, finishing with another 5km run. Both came first in their gender categories. Ross Broomfield competed in the traditional triathlon event with all three disciplines. He completed a 750m swim, 20km bike segment and 5km run, in an amazing time of 1 hour and 37 seconds, to take first place and the top spot on the podium.

Lem Lawrence, Chair of WaldenTRI, said: “It is great to see our members competing across several different disciplines of multi-sport and shows just how many options the sport of Triathlon offers. Most people think of triathlon as swim, bike, then run, but there are lots of multi-sport options available. You don’t have to be great at all 3. I would urge anyone to give it a try. WaldenTRI can show you the options available and our amazing coaches can prepare you to tackle an endurance challenge.”
