The Calendar of local junior races can been a little confusing as there are different types of races which are aimed at encouraging different levels of partication from the novice triathlete to those seeking to represent the Eastern Region at the end of season Inter Regional Championships. The different types are as follows:

CC - Club Championships - Best 2 races count. Rules

EL - Eastern Region Childrens League - Best 5 races count.

EC - Eastern Regional Championship* - a one off race.

IRC - Inter Regional Championship Qualification Race* for Tristar 2 and Tristar 3. More Details

YIRC - Inter Regional Championship Qualification Race* for Youths.

JNR Club Championship

Introduction

The objective of the WaldenJNR Club Championship is to encourage race participation in three local events.

Age Categories

There will be top three prizes in each age category for both boys and girls based on age on 31st December 2011. Prizes will be awarded at an end of year social event.

Scoring System

The following scoring system will be used:

In each race 20 points will be awarded for the 1st club member in each race category, 17 for 2nd, 15 for 3rd , 14 for 4th, 13 for 5th etc.
The highest points scored in a maximum of two out of the three events will count towards the Final Score.
Members do not need to do three events to be eligible for a prize, although it will obviously improve your chances of winning something.
Members will be ranked according to the highest Final Score.
In the event of a tie, final positions will be determined by overall points in any head to head races, followed by total time taken in those head to head races.

7th May  Practice Race v Cambridge Tri
19th June  New Hall Triathlon – Chelmsford
3rd July  Rob Mclean Triathlon - Cambridge

Age Groups and Race Distances

The age groups for racing are based on age at the 31 December of the year the race takes place, and hence could be different for children in the same year group at school.

The age groups are as follows:

TriStart - Aged 8
TriStar 1 - Ages 9 and 10
TrisStar 2 - Ages 11 and 12
TriStar 3 - Ages 13 and 14
Youth - Ages 15 and 16
