The Calendar of local junior races can been a little confusing as there are different types of races which are aimed at encouraging different levels of partication from the novice triathlete to those seeking to represent the Eastern Region at the end of season Inter Regional Championships. The different types are as follows:

CC - Club Championships - Best 2 races count. Rules

EL - Eastern Region Childrens League - Best 5 races count.

EC - Eastern Regional Championship* - a one off race.

IRC - Inter Regional Championship Qualification Race* for Tristar 2 and Tristar 3. More Details

YIRC - Inter Regional Championship Qualification Race* for Youths.

We have included links to the online entry page and to the club websites where you can get further infomation about each race.

JNR Club Championship

Introduction

The objective of the WaldenJNR Club Championship is to encourage much greater race participation in local events.

Age Categories

There will be top three prizes in each age category for both boys and girls based on age on 31st December 2013. Prizes will be awarded at an end of year social event.

Counting Events

Best scores from any three of the six events below to count:-

Walden JNR vs Cambridge Tri Club practice triathlon (4th May, Saffron Walden)
Rob McLean Youth Triathlon (30th June, Impington)
Tri-Force Juniors Triathlon (14th July, St Albans)
Kimbolton Kids Triathlon (21st July, Kimbolton)
Ipswich Junior Triathlon - Regional Championship (18th August, Framlingham)
Plus any other single Eastern Junior Triathlon League event of the club member’s choice (see list at by clicking here )

To enter any of the above racing you have to do this online and the links can be found on the 2013 Race Calender page. Always put down WaldenJNR as the club name as it will make it easier to pick up every result.

Scoring System

Points to be awarded in each race as follows, according to overall placing within each competitor’s age/gender category:-

1st - 50 points
2nd - 47 points
3rd - 44 points
4th - 42 points
5th - 41 points
6th - 40 points
7th - 39 points
etc..

Scoring Example

If the highest placed Walden JNR boy in the TriStar 3 boys category finishes 3rd overall in his race he would score 44 points.

If the next highest placed Walden JNR boy in that category finished in 5th place overall he would be score 41 points.

Age Groups and Race Distances

The age groups for racing are based on age at the 31 December of the year the race takes place, and hence could be different for children in the same year group at school.

The age groups are as follows:

TriStart - Aged 8
TriStar 1 - Ages 9 and 10
TrisStar 2 - Ages 11 and 12
TriStar 3 - Ages 13 and 14
Youth - Ages 15 and 16
