Term Fees and Membership Fee

The club benefits from being run by a large team of willing unpaid coaches and parent helpers and is indebted to Graham Jones, the Sports Development Partnership Officer at Saffron Walden County High, who has helped the club obtain funding from Sport Unlimited via Sportessex. These two factors have helped us keep the membership and term fees at very reasonable levels. The fees are reviewed at the end of each term.

The Annual Membership fee is £10 per calendar year. This enables the children to enter races under the club name. During the year members receive a small number of free items, e.g. T shirts, and benefit from subsidised social events.

Term fees are paid at the start of each term and work out at £2.50 per week assuming the child attends every session. Anyone who joins part way through a term will only pay for the remaining weeks of that term.

If you are new to the club you will need to complete a parent consent form which also acts as the membership form.

Application to Join or be put on the Waiting List

The Club has grown rapidly and has four Groups with a mximum of 30 members in each group. You can read more about the ages and aims of each group on the Group Structure page of the website.

There is currently a waiting list for Groups 1 to 3. There are a few spaces reserved for girls in Group 4. To ensure balance in the club we have a gender limit of 20 (out of the 30) in each group and we are currently at these limits for Group 1 (Girls) and Group 4 (Boys).

At 30th November 2011 the waiting list stood at:

  • Not yet eligible - 6
  • Group 1 (age 8, 9 and 10)  - 17 girls and 7 boys
  • Group 2 (age 11 and 12) - 12
  • Group 3 (age 13 and 14) - 2
  • Group 4 (age 15 to 19) - 0, although we are full for boys

Ages are based on 2012 race categories so are taken at 31 Dec 2012. Members move up age groups each September so the next move will be Sept 2012 which should free up spaces in Group 1. Other spaces usually become avialable at the start of each term although we have found so far that the attrition rate is quite low..we must be doing something right as they keep coming back!

Spaces are allocated to the next person on the wating list (subject to the above gender limits) based on the date of first contact. If an offer is made to someone who is unable to take it up but wants to remain on the list, that person will fall to the bottom of the wating list.

If you wish to join or be put on the waiting list you will need to send the following details to  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

  • Childs name
  • Gender
  • Date of Birth
  • 2011/2012 School Year
  • Parent Telephone Number
  • Parent Mobile Number

Please note that club membership does not include British Triathlon Membership which we recomend for those planning to race regularly.

If your child attends training you are required to complete and sign a parent consent form which doubles as the club membership form. This provides us with key emergency contact details as well as medical information.

You can download a copy here. Please print both pages (use print icon at the bottom of the page), complete it and bring it to the registration desk at the first training session you attend. It saves us a lot of time if you do this in advance especially at the start of a new term.

For those racing on a regular you ought to consider joining either Triathlon England or Triathlon Wales.

Membership runs annually to the 31st March.

The benefits include:

  • No day license fee is needed for race entry. If you are not a member a day licence must be purchased for each race entered at a cost of £2 per race.
  • Subscription to a quarterly magazine called Trinews
  • A British Triathlon Annual Handbook which included details of all races during the year
  • Worldwide Personal Accident Cover whilst training and racing

Juniors need to be members of Brtish Triathlon if the which to quaify for the Inter Regional Championship team or be eligible for the Eastern Region Championships.
