Coaches

The club has the benefit of an experienced coaching team and has benefitted from a number of parents who now obtained a coaching qualification. All are unpaid volunteers. The coaching team is set out below and we will add pictures to this page soon so you can recognise them at training sessions.

Geoff Jones

Head Coach and Group 1 Joint Leader

(Level 2 Triathlon and Level 1 Athletics)

Geoff coached the Juniors at Cambridge Tri Club for a number of years prior to setting up WaldenJNR. In 2010 Geoff was named British Triathlon’s National Children’s Coach of the Year. Geoff has represented Great Britain at four Age Group World Championships at the Olympic distance. Geoff is Sophie’s Dad.

Ian Howlett

Group 2 Leader

(Level 2 Triathlon)

Ian passed his Level 1 course in early 2010 and has just passed his Level 2 course as well as an Open Water Swim coach certificate. Ian is Alex, Maddie and Olivia’s Dad.

Phil Trevillion

Group 4 Leader

(Level 2 Triathlon)

Phil was one of the first and is probably the most experienced coach in the club. Phil is Annabel and Maddie’s Dad.

Derek Jones

(Level 2 Triathlon)

Derek is the Club Chairman who has coached seniors for a number of years prior to setting up WaldenJNR.

Tim Wright

(Level 1 Triathlon)

Tim has been helping for a number of months having answered an earlier request for Parents for help. He is not a triathlete but this does not stop you becoming a good Triathlon coach. He has just passed his Level 1. Tim is Joely and Nathan’s Dad.

Donna Dale

Group 1 Joint Leader

(Level 1 Triathlon)

Donna has been helping since we started the club and has just completed her Level 1 course and mainly coaches Group 1. Donna is Ben and Alex’s Mum.

Craig Dyce

Group 3 Leader

(Level 2 Athletics and Level 1 Triathlon)

Craig joined the team in 2010 and quickly completed his Level 1 course. He has recently completed his Level 2 Athletics qualification meaning he is our expert at Long Jump and throwing the Javelin!! Craig has his own personal fitness business Dyce Fitness.

Kate Bozianu

Child Welfare Officer

(No coaching qualification)

Kate helps out whenever she can although is often selling her home made bread in local markets on a Saturday morning. Kate is Leon. Georgia and Dominic’s Mum.

Arlene McLean

(Level 1 Triathlon)

Arlene is also the Club’s Welfare Officer, a role she also carry's out for Saffron Seals. Arlene passed Level 1 at the same time as Ian. She is also Megan’s Mum.
