WaldenTRI are very pleased to announce a new event for the Eastern Region race calendar. WD11 (Walden Duathlon 2011) will be on Sunday November 20th, 2011 and will be a "RUN – MTB - RUN" for both Seniors and Juniors (TriStars 1,2,3 & Youths).

Building on the established strengths of our sprint triathlon WT11, WaldenTRI’s race committee have developed a new race that is suitable for novices as well as presenting some interesting challenges for more experienced athletes.

The event will based around the disused airfield, next to Carver Barracks in Wimbish (near Saffron Walden, Essex). The venue gives us a variety of terrains to incorporate. The run leg will be on both the tarmac of the main runway as well as some off road scrubland and grass. The bike leg includes an exciting variety of terrains and several interesting obstacles to make it a little more fun for both spectators and participants!

Please Note: For both Senior & Junior race a mountain bike or Hybrid bike with off-road tyres are the ONLY acceptable bikes. NO road or cyclo cross bikes will be permitted.

The airfield provides ample parking as well as a pavilion with changing, toilets & shower facilities. A post race massage service will be available along with hot bacon rolls, tea, coffee and hot chocolate for participants and spectators.

The bike route has been designed to be suitable for all levels.  Any tricky or technical sections of the bike course will also have an easier alternative which will be clearly marked. A route familiarisation training session will be offered to all registered participants in mid October.

Prices for Seniors will be £20 (for BTF members) and £25 for non-members requiring a day license. For TriStars 1,2,3 & Youths, prices will be £13 (for BTF members) and £15 for non-members requiring a day license,

Age category shall be determined as at 31st December in the current year

The Senior race will start at 8am on Sunday morning in a single mass start. The Juniors will start by age group from 1pm.
