A glimpse of the sun, milder weather and the days starting to get longer can only mean one thing. Panic! The race season is on its way and have I really done enough winter training to make this year the best ever, full of personal records.

The 10 mile TTs will be kicking off from the 10th of May at 19:00. If you have never been before, the meeting point is 300m from Audley End bus stop towards Gt. Chesterford. The route is simply up towards Stumps Cross roundabout and back. Please ensure that you arrive before the start to allow for sign-in and race brief. All bikes must be road legal, helmets have to be worn and a working rear light. Riders are set off at intervals therefore we are able to accommodate all levels and abilities so please don't feel intimidated or think that you need a pointy helmet and fancy wheels. Costs are a just £2 to members.

The Time Trial is a great way to push yourself harder, learn what you and your bike are capable of and hopefully enjoy seeing improvements to your TT times as well as your Triathlon bike splits.

Please put the following times and dates in your diary and for more information please don't hesitate to ask. Also, the event relies on volunteers, please let me know if you would like to help with marshalling or time keeping.

  • 10th May 19:00
  • 24th May 19:30
  • 7th June 19:30
  • 21st June 19:30
  • 5th July 19:30
  • 19th July 19:30
  • 2nd Aug 19:15
  • 16th Aug 19:00
  • 30th Aug 18:45

Please note: changing start times that allow for longer days.

A number of members are keen mountain bikers and for the last few years have competed in the Thetford ‘Dusk till Dawn’ race and both the Thetford Summer and Winter Series.

For more information about mountain biking, please have a word with Liam Brook in Newdales, Saffron Walden. For the last few years, Liam has organised a very popular long weekend of mountain biking in Coed y Brenin, Wales.

Injured Soldiers Fund

Since 2008, WaldenTRI have been supporting the charity Teenage Cancer Trust.

In 2011, member votes have led us to support the Injured Soldiers Fund instead. Our donation will be calculated from a portion of club proceeds and a portion of race entry fees from WT11. WaldenTRI are very proud and pleased to be able to make a contribution to our local community. Read more
